"Medical Fund: Kinetics' Internet Alternative"
Kinetics Asset Management is proving that there is more to life than the Internet.
Like biotech.

I freely admit that what follows is bad Karma--I am
getting too cocky. Old Man Greenspan is probably going
to give me a spankin' now, but I cannot resist the urge
to gloat a little. Thanks very much to Rick Harmon,
from whom I am borrowing the word "leverage" for today.

To the author of that II article I wrote:

Craig:

You wrote "The Medical Fund's strategy and insight from its manager's scientific background should serve it well in this time of biotechnology splendor. "

With a gain of only 24%, the performance of this fund is unremarkable.
My own gain this year in biotech is over 500%....over 200% last year,
and over 300% the year before (although I didn't own much biotech in 1998).

Kudos to fund manager Paul Abel for owning GZMO...but at no more than
one percent for any of the more "speculative" companies...he is getting nowhere fast in a time where leverage is everything. Clearly Genzyme Molecular's SAGE and aaAT3 make it one of the most undervalued and highly leveraged plays in third tier biotech.

GZMO is my fourth largest position of nine biotech stocks.

God help me, I've actually posted on TheStreet.com--
but at least that thread is not part of Cramer's
Biotech Rotisserie League!
