Richard,
You may want to take a look at Crescent Operation Co. This was a $25 stock that is now trading at $2 1/4. With the RMA there is really no need for this entity to exist and my guess is that CEI will bring it home at a nice price. Don't let the Charter loses scare you, as they were capped last year. Also, the negative worth is not realistic as the worth of there leases and other on going businesses is not included. My guess is that they will do something sooner rather than wait until 2001 when RMA takes over. Incidentally, the RMA will be a much bigger opportunity than most people think especially for the apartment reits. Let me know what you find if you do DD on COPI.
I agree that we lack leadership in the reits. Many of the stocks though have made their bottom which may or may not be tested. I'm sure glad that a good number of the reits that I own are buying their stocks which will decrease the floats. So, all we need do is stay calm, keep clipping the coupons on the interest payments and wait for the turn around. Regards....George
