Strong demand for Windows2000 will surprise everyone. Laptops are screaming for the upgrade and there are zillions of them.

Just as a point of contrast on that one, you got Pat Gelsinger from the recent Intel dog and pony show:

But Gelsinger noted that internal company research had found that computers running the business-oriented operating system Windows 2000, set for release on Thursday, would require about 250 more megahertz of power to deliver the same level of processing performance as current desktops. nytimes.com

Just a passing remark, but laptops are a lot less upgradable, hardware wise, than desktops, memory is a lot more expensive too. Personally, I'd expect people to wait and get it bundled the next time they go through a hardware cycle. How many laptops have 128meg of memory?
