The large SUVs are worse. They had a report last night on ABC on SUV sales dropping 10% last month. The largest ones have mpg of 10 with the range from 10 to 18. Plus the SUVs tend to only have one person in the car 99% of the time as with most cars. Even if you go back 15-20 years, the average mpg of cars was higher. It's quite likely the average mpg of cars has been dropping for the past few years.
