Nokia was chosen as GSM - WCDMA base station system supplier to Suomen 2G and 3G, Finland
Nokia was chosen as a radio network supplier for Suomen 2G and 3G GSM network in Finland.
HELSINKI, Finland,Feb. 17, 2000,Nokia will deliver a GSM - WCDMA radio network including the triple mode (GSM, EDGE, WCDMA) Nokia UltraSite base station solution. Part of the base stations will be delivered as WCDMA capable.

Suomen 2G and 3G are Finland's newest operators. Suomen 2G Oy was granted a license to operate the fourth digital cellular network in Finland in January this year. The company has been founded by 12 regional, private companies of the Finnet Group.
In addition to them, 26 telecommunications operators of the same group will be taken in as partners in the company. The same companies, together with NetCom AB, Sweden, own Suomen 3G Oy, to which the government granted a license for third generation mobile networks in March 1999. |
