Well Rusty I went to the Linux Essentials and was once again disappointed the the reign of Linux ignorance, IMHO. So I'm sending this email as my response.

But first to spell check it here.
--------------------------------------
Well I don't know what if any hands on Mr Lindquist has with Linux or the recommended list. Netscape is the only one on my List. Of course I don't just dilly dabble in Linux, I use and have used it for over 7 years.
So WordPerfect 8.0 , well I've used Word Perfect and it's Ok by I like a complete office suite and I've found that the first office suite for Linux 6 year old applixware has and does do what I need. The extensive review in Linux Journal points out the pluses and minus vs Star Office.

Now the choice of the Gimp is to me a joke. And to figure it out I suggest that one by the 50 pound O'reilly book on it. It's the klunkiest app I ever tried. I believe that Mr Christopher Lindquist it totally ignorant of XV that's over hmmm.... 10 years old. Also more recently compupic thought not as efficient as XV has some nice additional features.

So to me Mr Christopher Lindquist recommendations are a JOKE. If you want to see the result of a real 100% Linux user for seven years. Yes I used to buy redhat distribution across Mr Robert Youngs kitchen table.

So if you are not afraid and or bandwidth challenged take a look at.
watman.com The ultimate Linux productive Window Manager.
watman.com This information mega tool help get me information a little faster and in trading stock it's big bucks.
watman.com Yes I'm a geek with bad taste. But I think it's EYE catching

The second area of development is in the volume processing of digital images and the automation of archiving the imagery in html or web pages.
Examples of this image processing: The Sea Witch Gam image archive contains 617 photos documented with 32 web pages and the total processing from camera to web took less than 6 hours.
watman.com

At the bottom of my watman.com you will find pointer to my other thousand of photos processed into the web with XV, Applixware, crisp and local test viewing with Netscape 3.0 4.07 4.61.

Mr. Christopher Lindquist ignorance of what really makes Linux click has condemned many to the truly mediocre.
