I don't see it. Are you going on your own observations or on this whispering, smear campaign to the effect that somehow his POW experience unhinged him? I don't buy it. I understand McCain can be hot-headed, but many great leaders have that component in their temperament. I think he's got it under control--that's what matters. He's got fire as well as maturity and intelligence, etc., etc.--the right stuff.

I think the Republican establishment fears and hates McCain because he is not controllable and is an independent thinker. They hate and fear campaign finance reform. Shrubby is a lapdog for big-money interests wrapped up in "compassionate conservative" tinsel.

Dubya looked FAR more tightly wound than McCain in the debate. Only thing is, I think Shrubby looked that way only because his advisers told him to look energetic and aggressive. He unmistakably gives the immpression of someone just following a script. He's phony in my book.

I think it is PRESUMPTUOUS as hell of this lightweight to think that his achievements and his talents make him most qualified to be President of the United States. Shrubby has spent less time as (an inherently weak) Governor of Texas than John McCain spent being beaten and tortured in a North Vietnamese POW camp. On a 1-10 gravitas scale, Shrub is a 2, McCain an 8 or 9.
