Elmer, >If you have the time, go over and read the terror stricken posts on the AMD thread. In my several years on SI I have never seen this kind of panic. Otherwise sensible and sober contributors are so shell shocked at the realization of what a true 7th generation processor can do that they have lost all sensibility. The denials of the obvious, the finger pointing, the accusations of lies, the claims of Intel falsifying the facts, claims of active cooling, claims of "it's impossible" "That is incredibly slimy of them to try to create the impression of an air cooled 0.18u part running at 1.5 Ghz.", it goes on and on and on.
What strikes me as almost funny is that the couple of Intel employees over there are always careful about what they comment on, saying 'not an expert in that area, but I'll ask some people', for example. But some of the AMDroids act like they're experts in everything, from CPU architecture, to transistor switching speed limits, etc., etc. And follow that Pied Piper! Man, if it sounds one iota not so good for Intel, THAT'S THE THREAD BYLINE FROM NOW ON! Humdaday humdaday, however that march beat goes.
One reason I never invest in AMD (I know some of you make money in it from time to time) is that you never know when the 800 pound gorilla might get angry.
