You are being too kind to McCain and too rough on Bush. My own instincts are that Bush would make a better president because his positions are better thought out and more reflexively conservative. But he is a relatively poor communicator and has made many enemies in the 4th estate. It's not certain he can ever recover.

McCain is a good communicator, is likeable and fearless. His capture and survival in Nam defines his being. His positions don't differ significantly with Bush's, but where they do, McCain's are weaker. He tends to go off on tangents more often and I think he plays the polls on some issues, making a big deal over trivial matters. He appears to be wound a little tight.

I'm undecided on whom to vote for. Both seem to be genuinely good people, unlike the present scum in the White House. Bush's policies make more sense to me while McCain's fire makes me believe he can put Gore away.

I have a couple weeks to decide.
