But you're forgetting one important fact- there has never been a recession in our history where the entire population is busy daytrading tech stocks.

Our economy could coceivably collapse entirely, but people could keep bidding stocks to the moon. Eventually they might be concerned that when they try and sell their Yahoo shares for $150,000,000 apiece and they don't get any bids.
