I am glad many of you finally had the opportunity of meeting Fred. I have been a passive lurker on this thread since Fred convinced me to purchase Valence almost 2 years ago, but his letter and other letters to or about him in the recent months have moved me to post this. Months ago someone wrote that he may have been the only one to have ever met Fred face to face. I have known Fred since our freshman year in college some 35 years ago. We have shared a lot of good times and some bad times. Time has separated us and we live in opposite ends of the country now. However, Fred still remains a loyal and caring friend. During his recent crisis we have talked many times on the phone and I know how all of this has devastated him. He has shown a lot of personal courage and class for coming through everything so well. His last letter typifies his character. Without Fred's hard work and encouragement I never would have profited as I have and I owe him much. The least I can do is to share some of my gain with him and this I promise. Fred, this is a public "thank you" and is to let those who don't know you as well as I what a wonderful person you are.
