that's why i'm a lot less sanguine about the prospects for lower oil prices than others, in spite of the high bullish sentiment readings in the futures market. the consensus has been, and continues to be, that prices will fall. why should they? even if OPEC gives Clinton a little something to take home to the American people and their oversized gas-guzzlers, it will simply not be enough to relieve the pressures on the supply/demand deficit. they simply won't risk a plunge in prices. btw, expect them to extract concessions (i.e. military aid or some such thing) before they begin to ship even one barrel more.
the only thing that could bring down the oil price with a vengeance would be an epic BK and the resulting global depression.
