Right on Charley.
I've gotta admit, for a second there i thought you were saying that homosexual males aren't men. (Or can't be Men, in your vernacular.) So since you are quite emphatically not saying anything homophobic, I am totally cool with you my friend.
(I must admit, I'm shying away from using the terms homophobe or homophobia as blanket statements. I've had many conversations with friends of mine who are opposed to homosexuality on moral/religious grounds and aren't at all condemning of or afraid of people for their sexual preference. So really, I have nothing against people who are only opposed to homosexuality and not hating or fearful of homosexual people. I don't agree with them, but I can respect their opinion.)
Anyway, aside from that aside.... Thanks for the food for thought Charley. As you said, the concept you were driving at is very difficult to verbalize, but I think you did a pretty good job capturing the gist of it. I seriously doubt that I'm close to living up to those ideals totally, but it's the general direction I'm trying to head for.
Take care, -Tom (Who doesn't throw trash out of his car and stops at the stoplight when the streets are deserted in the wee hours of the morning. Not saying I'm not tempted though. :) |
