I don't know how they can sell any more Barbie's. We already have a box full of them. <g>

Well, guess what MAT fans? The future of kids interactive software is here. Your humble(?) Shareholder in the Street&#153 has received the Me2Cam I ordered at ShopMattel.com on the 11th. Both my 4 and 6 year old daughters were COMPLETELY OBNOXIOUS, screaming, jumping up and down, and pushing each other out of the way trying to get their mugs in the video games. First, let me point out that the hardware is just a standard low-res video camera but with that consumer-catnip clear blue plastic that Steve Jobs popularized. Hardware-wise the QX3 is much more impressive. It's the image recognition and tracking software that makes this "toy" good. I would guess that this is the first of many many many things along these lines. Let's hope that the barrier to entry is higher than one would think and MAT/INTC has a big jump on everyone else.

So far the experience isn't stellar but my kids and I just played with it for about an hour before bathtime. I'm sure the MAT/INTC engineers are working on higher-rez faster interfaces and better tracking BUT this version certainly IS worth the ~$70 price. Also the potential is enormous. So far the MAT/INTC collaboration has two big hits in my book. Their software folks are amazing.

Two grubby little thumbs up
