FYI, there is no such thing as a "package installation" of SAP. It is easily as complex and specific to each customer as a Vantive deployment. The only difference is that if you want functionality in SAP that is not available in the product you have a major problem and a major expense. The average SAP deployment is 12-18 months. Hardly a "package installation". I think the only difference here is the focus on "front end solutions"(CRM) versus "back end solutions"(SAP, Peoplesoft). As SAP rolls out its CRM, SM and SCM modules this difference will fade, too.
