Jim, Sure SiC is the same item that CPSX and SEMX ar eusing- but applied in a different part of the semiconductor industry. To be specific CREE uses Sic wafers to make semiconductors.

Whenever you use a compound different than straight silicon for the chip's wafer, it is referred to as a compound semiconductor (as compared to a "regular" semiconductor).

Want to look at another company in CREE's space that is relatively very cheap- look at MSCC Microsemi or CVCI, CVC Inc....

CPSX and SEMX on the other hand do not make semiconductors- they make the heat dissipation substrates that attach to the semiconductors and remove heat. The more powerful the chip, the more electricity needed to run it. The more electricity used, then the more heat generated which needs to be removed form the chip as heat (and also low frequency electronic signals) impede a semiconductor's peak performance.

Traditional heat dissipation devices were either copper or aluminum..then came copper-tungsten most common now...and next the latest generation AlSiC. Basically both SEMX and CPSX have proprietary processes to produce AlSiC heat dissipation devices. CPSX has a really neat process whereby they "flow" the Aluminum around pieces of SiC and then "freeze" the product into its final required shape.

They do it cheaply and to a very fine tolerance...something that old line press and sinter manufacturing companies like Samsung, for e.g., cannot match.....

Finally IMO Gary Groebbel is an excellent picker of up and coming stocks...Keep an eye on his picks.... This whole area of compound thermal dissipation devices is almost completey undiscovered on Wall Street right now...You are in on the "ground floor"....
