What Opti needs to do (aside from selling chips) is announce that they are exploring all options to maximize shareholder value, including buybacks, asset sales, restructuring to reduce costs, selling the company, etc. Because they have the financial resources to support the stock (read: squeeze the shorts) without extending themselves, they could easily increase the stock price to book value or more. A share buyback, for example, would increase book value and demonstrate the confidence of the directors in the future of the company. It would also get the attention of the analysts. Then, maybe we would get some other buyers who recognize real value.
