Dear Nancy, It seems evident to me when I read Acts 21, verses 19-26 that James and the Elders was asking Paul to gratify the believing Jews, by complying with their ceremonial laws. They wanted him to conform and he did. Our substance, which was Christ, had already came and to me, this was a weakness in Paul to go back to the shadows, so to speak, when Jesus had already fulfilled the LAW.
Later in the Temple, they charge him with heretical doctrine for not observing the Laws of Moses.
Some days, you just can't win when you try to appease the desires of another. Have you ever done that and then regretted it later?
