I use Schwab Canada. They are by far the best brokerage
I've ever used. (I've got accounts at two others.)

Trades are generally sent to the floor about 30 sec to
2 minutes after placement. Confirmations are as quick
as permitted (ie. any delay is caused by the exchange itself
not reporting quickly).

FUNNY STORY (not really): I was trying to place a stoploss
order through one of my other two discount borkers (I'm not
going to say who they are) the other day and had to wait on
hold for over 15 minutes at 11:15. When I finally got
through I placed my order and then asked if a 15 minute
wait was normal at that time of day. The woman responded
"yes, during peak times that was normal". So, of course,
I had to ask, "When are peak times?". She responded something
to the effect of....

"FROM 9:00 to 4:30" I ALMOST FELL OUT OF MY CHAIR!!!

Time to switch everything to Schwab.

Cheers,
Rob

PS. I have no connection to Schwab other than being a
happy customer. I actually met Schwab Canada's CEO
at a presentation that he made here in Ottawa a few
weeks ago. Kind of neat to be able to talk to the CEO
about improvements, TDKYCR, etc.

PPS. The Damn Know Your Client Rule :)
