Mr. Martin,

Darn it. I was hoping the piece you saw was on a current news item that hopefully announced that the pfs100 was shipping. Indeed...there has been a lot of hype about the pfs100...but nothing to back it up to date. They were supposed to be 'under $50' and available a while back...now they are supposed to be so cheap that the cost will 'not be felt by the end user'...I don't know if that means the cost has gotten any cheaper, or if they are using another vague expression to mean the same thing.

I don't know how long you have been with ESAF...but a while back we signed a deal with Who?Vision...and they promised to have scanners out with a price of 'under $10'...by the end of 1998. As of yet, they are not shipping. So there is a lot of 'hype' in this industry, and unfortunately...little results. I am not suggesting that the pfs100 will never ship...only that it is taking longer than expected, and that is annoying.

All this having been said...the non-shipping status of the pfs100 is to the best of my current knowledge. I could...and hope...to be wrong...but I doubt it. I think the only scanners we can ship with that are worth the space they take up are made by Secugen.

Regards,
Bob
