( BW)(CA-PRASARA-TECHNOLOGIES) PRASARA's Customer Care Application Launches on Time Warner Cable of New York City
System

Business Editors/Technology Writers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2000--

Marks the Third TWC System to Launch PRASARA Software

PRASARA(TM) Technologies today announced the launch of its interactive Customer Care & Education software application for Time Warner Cable's largest system -- 1.2
million subscribers in New York City -- to be phased in coincident with TWC's roll-out of its digital set-top boxes. This announcement follows the December launch of the
Customer Care and Education application to 100,000 Time Warner Cable customers in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida and 30,000 Oceanic Cable customers throughout the island
of Oahu.
PRASARA's on-screen software provides customers with shortcuts to information and guides them through topics such as setting parental controls, ordering Pay Per View,
taping programs, programming the remote control, setting channel banners, and more. Customers access the Customer Care and Education application through the electronic
program guide, or by channeling to it directly.
The application runs on any digital set-top box, and works with the cable operator's existing headend, requiring no additional investment in equipment.
"PRASARA's Customer Care and Education application is an example of the type of interactive television services we will offer using digital set-top boxes," said Time Warner
Cable of New York City President Barry Rosenblum. "The application provides customers with the information they need to get the most value out of our new digital television
service," he added.
The software interface is easy to use and can be changed quickly and easily. It's also customized to complement the cable operator's local branding look and feel.
"We recognize the importance of focusing new technologies on the core cable business and have developed applications that educate customers and increase their understanding
of the services offered by their cable company. This will become even more critical as more advanced interactive television services are introduced," said PRASARA President
Robert Montgomery.
PRASARA Technologies (www.prasara.com) provides business and technical solutions to cable TV operators for their design, installation, maintenance, and operation of ITV
technology. Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., PRASARA brings together the talents and expertise that built the world's first interactive television systems. Its personnel are experts in
software development, e-commerce, database marketing, back-office systems, and systems integration. Business relationships include Scientific-Atlanta, General Instrument,
Concurrent Computer Corporation, Pioneer, Unisys, Oracle, Power TV, and Time Warner Cable. Current deployments of PRASARA VOD and E-commerce applications include
Oceanic Cable, Honolulu, HI and Time Warner Communications, Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL, and now Time Warner Cable of New York City.
