If you listen to the rest of the qcom analyst conference, the emphasis on where qcom puts its resources to spur cdma growth and qcom shareholder value, you will feel a lot better about G*; qcom wouldn't have done it unless it is confident G* will be big commercial and profit-making success. for example, one of things qcom said it would use proceeds of the July stock offering was to make investments in cos, ventures that would spur cdma growth; mgt stated that the places it has already invested were worth, I can't recall, many times the money invested. that's the philosophy qcom looks at--grow its own biz and make money with the increase in value of the successful biz it invests in. ie, holds true with G* too. qcom hasn't made any major blunders yet, so keep the faith
