To a certain extent DSL is under a regulatory cloud. The DSL companies are provided space by the Bells, who are getting into DSL in a big way. Where I live DSL is provided by Pac Bell for $49 a month, including ISP with email and basic web hosting, no hardware cost and no installation cost (sob! I paid $200 for my hardware!). Check out Covad's deals in the same region -- they're not competitive. It seems like it should be The Way, but I don't see big profits anytime soon. Hey, just like all the other Internet companies!
