beating the odds again!
----
The NASDAQ Composite fell 137.15 points, or 3.0 percent, to 4,411.77 -- its seventh-largest point drop. The NASDAQ market had technical difficulties in the dissemination of its data for a large portion of the trading session.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 3.0 percent while the Russell 2000 Index of small-capitalization stocks slipped 2.3 percent.

Volume stood at 1.04 billion on the Big Board while 1.90 billion shares changed hands on the NASDAQ. Breadth was horrible, as losers outnumbered winners by 23 to 7 on the NYSE and by 26 to 16 on the NASDAQ.
