Less than a year after being named to head up Time Warner's
digital-media division, Michael Pepe has reportedly been shifted out of
the job to an as-yet-unspecified post. Pepe is one of several
executives who have resigned or been reassigned since the company
announced plans to merge with America Online (AOL), CNet reported. One
reason some executives may have also chosen to move on is a provision
in the merger agreement that speeds the vesting of stock options. AOL
is reportedly weighing various strategies for Time Warner's Internet
efforts, including using its Netscape Netcenter as a focus for the
media company's various brands. This week, AOL said CNN will become the
primary news supplier to Netcenter.
