Dan and all: AMD 2/28 price cuts
We all know that AMD is going cut Atlon prices by the end of this month. Pricewatch listings already has one vendor listing Athlons prices(effective 2/28) reflecting the upcoming price cuts. To give you an idea how these price cuts going to look, I compiled the data as below -

With the current prices, the DIY sales were almost split between 650MHz and 700MHz Athlons based on the sales data I have been collecting from two online resellers (MicroXpress and Insight).
With the new prices (effective 2/28), based on the above observation, I expect the DIY sweet spot shift to 700MHz and 750MHz.
IMHO, 500MHz and 550MHz (may be even 600MHz & 650MHz) will soon be dropped (price difference between 600MHz and 500MHz is only $21 ! -- $60 more will get you 650MHz one)
I'd like to hear comments from all regarding the pros and cons related to the impending AMD price cuts, and especially on what AMD is trying to accomplish with these price cuts. Also, what can you derive from these price cuts related to AMD binsplits/supply, ASP, AMD tactics, any indication of releases of new products (Athlon 900MHz, Spitfirem, K6-2+), etc. TIA
