And without the cost of real estate around their neck I'm back to betting on their products.

My recollection is that the realty had been paid off long ago. I'm not sure how selling the real estate makes the company more attractive. Chances are good the real estate was returning more in annual appreciation than they'll earn on the money -- particularly if they had just leased out what they didn't need.
