Not sure if I agree with that. Both Healtheon and Emed attempt to use technology to create efficient health care systems and the like (a nightmarish goal!). EMed is even more specific in that it deals with imaging. See further below with a quote from their mission. So for now Healtheon/Emed and Medsite are distincly unique IMO. Olga
"Healtheon's mission is to leverage advanced Internet technology to connect all participants in healthcare, and enable them to communicate, exchange information and perform transactions which cut across the healthcare maze. This will simplify healthcare, reduce costs, enhance service and result in higher quality, and more accessible healthcare.
Healtheon recognizes that the healthcare industry, because of its size, fragmentation and extreme dependence on information exchange, is particularly well suited to benefit from the use of the Internet. Most process and transactions in healthcare remain duplicative and paper-based, resulting in wasted effort, frustrated users, high labor costs and delays in care. The Internet, due to its ubiquity and openness, can be an ideal means of exchanging information and supporting complex transactions between disparate participants across geographic and business boundaries, and freeing the user from dependence on expensive proprietary systems and technology."
