Formus Communications asks SEC to withdraw IPO
WASHINGTON, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Formus Communications Inc., provider of high-speed and other broadband telecommunications services in Europe using mainly wireless networks, asked the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday for permission to withdraw its planned $150 million initial public offering.

The Denver-based company said a change in the senior management of Formus ``does not make a public offering of the company's securities feasible at this time,' according to a letter sent to the SEC.

Formus, had not set terms for its planned IPO in a prospectus filed with the SEC on Oct. 7, 1999 but had sought to list its shares on Nasdaq under the symbol ``FMUS' (NasdaqNM:FMUS - news).

It had planned to use the proceeds to finance the rollout of its service offerings, including broadband Internet access.

Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette was the underwriter for the offering.
