thanks, telcomguy. you make it clearer to me. i'm still skeptical though. i don't follow gilder as a religious leader, as some do, but he makes eminent sense when he speaks of the dumb network: that out at the edge, the world will think of a million permutations of what a clfy can do. but roth and his men have got to have thought this through, and they are a lot smarter than i am. i do understand his emphasis on access - that, now, is as important as the internet, obviously. jack
