thanks for the information. for me i cannot understand that
behaviour - and the benefit for the future growth and worth
of the company. i mean they are the biggest high-tech company,
with a huge customer base and huge human capital -
knowledge. and they spend billions in stock repurchasing actions.

i would know some better ways to spend this money in the
time of ebusiness and a revolutionary evolution of life
that is based on technology.

the other aspect is, when ibm itself bought that much stock
back - we have to assume the share price today would be
even lower than it is. and by that lou gerstner's compensations!

other big high techs - that have mature cash cow products
at least invest in internet ventures and companies that
backup, use or synergize with their existing products and
standards. (e.g. Intel, Microsoft).

again, for me ibm's growth strategy is not visible.
