Look for Fundamental Criteria
A company's value based on number of shares available multiplied by the stock price.

To me it is not just the float, but all outstanding shares times the market price of those shares. This includes all classes of shares (float, insider, restricted, lock-up, other classes of common). Some services, including SI and IBD, misreport Market cap by only doing it for one class of common shares at a time.

The implied questions are (1) is the stock fairly valued or over- or under-valued, and (2) is there sufficient liquidity to enter and exit? For (1) you have to recognize preferred stock and debt, and maybe warrants and stock options. For (2) you may not need to consider other classes.
