Scumbria, off topic!

I just tried the same thing with my cell phone, and I saw no effect on my monitor. However, I did notice a humming noise coming out of my speakers, perhaps due to the EM energy.

By the way, my cell phone is a Nokia 6162, TDMA, on an AT&T call plan. My monitor is a high-quality ViewSonic PT770, so maybe that monitor is better shielded against EM radiation than yours.
