Dan, I wasn't taken aback by ferret legging, I was repelled and failed to see the humor. Since I am a regular contributor at Laughter and have tossed some rather raunchy ones in at that thread, I don't think that I can be said to lack or to have too delicate a sense of humor.

I consider the stuff posted to that you have quoted here to be appalling, regardless of who posted them. Postings such as these and a number of yours on Sanity are the reason I usually do not post on threads like Sanity. There is more than enough venom and sheer nastiness in this world already; I do not feel the need to go out of my way to look for it.

As for certain people being "my" pals, they treat me cordially and with respect and I behave the same toward them in return. However, I do not consider myself to have joined "the guys," no matter how ruthlessly I am shoved toward them and classed with them, nor am I going to answer for anyone's behavior except my own. When I am in the midst of a discussion or disagreement, I remain civil or I keep my fingers off the keyboard. I do not attack people personally nor do I sneer at and belittle them. If others do not feel similarly constrained, it is their affair and that of the thread at large.

As for SI (Admin) Bob, I think that he has an extremely difficult job; although I have disagreed from time to time with individual decisions, on the whole, I think he does it very well. I suspect that the long-winded version of the terms of use came into being from all the requests for further clarification on threads such as Welcome. I find some of what is in the current version a bit weird, but it's an attempt at clarification.
