Mr hamly I sense your displeasure with Athlon's poor scores in Integer performance and your frequent references to my occasional reminders about who holds the worlds fastest SPECint scores. I hope you aren't under the impression that SPECint scores are under Intel's control or that Intel's compilers have a significant effect on those scores. I think that is a lame excuse to sooth the damaged pride of those who have placed all their hopes on Athlon being a superior architecture. I think the best course for you is to take your complaints directly to the SPEC organization and ask them to come up with some other gauge, perhaps one which relies more heavily on blasting mutant aliens (TM EPhud '98).
