Will tamagotchi get clucked?

By chance I caught a blurb on MS-NBC last night (about 5 PM MDT). Brian Steadman of suck.com (http://www.suck.com) was being interviewed about tamagotchis. He was holding and describing a copycat version of a tamagotchi. He said the copycat is made by Tiger Electronics and will be available in the States this month for $10. He said the delay at Bandai in getting tamagotchis here was caused by the "need" to redesign it for the American market. Someone decided that American kids wouldn't want a pet chicken, so Bandai created some other kind of pet.

So, what does this mean for Bandai? It now has competition in the States even before it created a market here (and one competitor's product will be available a month sooner and at a 40-50% lower price). I'm sure there will be more competitors.

I am definitely on the sidelines with this stock. There are many other rocks to look under, as Saint Peter L. would say.

I will keep my group order for tamagotchis open for now, if anyone is still interested. Dennis, please let me know if you are still interested. Also, if anyone finds any information about Tiger Electronics, please post it here. Thanks. I haven't found anything yet.

Kirk
