Ralph, Mike, and Bill M,

I watched the Fountain of Youth. I thought the outcome was logical. The Racing Form, Pat Day, television announcers etc.. commented that the track was favoring inside speed. I didn't see any of the other races. I looked at the charts for the day and based on the comments of the trackman I doubt it was a strong bias if there was one.

My guess is that neither the winner or 2nd horse is the Derby winner even though I thought they both had very good races.

The 3rd place finisher, Elite Mercedes, hasn't shown nearly enough to be taken seriously yet. However, Elliot Walden took over the training of this one recently and he might move forward. Elliot is good! This was the horse's first start since November.

Greenwood Lake had a better performance, but I don't like his style of coming from way, way back. He needs some racing luck to get the job done.

Chilukki got beat yesterday. I didn't see the race, but I don't think it's any big deal. It was her first start off the layoff. Baffert is smart enough not to send her out 100% right away and she was vulnerable at 1 1/16 anyway. I think she will do OK routing because she has SO much ability, but I still think she's better going short.
