The kind of event you are talking about here would render all investments worthless.

Now then .. perhaps I missed something .. did any of those PhD's mention things like:

Plasma dome swelling?
increased sizemic activity?
increased gas production?

as being current activities there?

If not, then this falls into the area of "sometime during the next 10,000 years."
