An article by Paul Bonner of Computer Shopper. www5.zdnet.com Last paragraph from the article: The problem is that there is no real alternative to the ActiveX path. Certainly there are many times when ActiveX's benefits outweigh its costs. But what about those instances when it doesn't? I'd like an alternative choice, sort of a parallel universe to Microsoft's vision of Windows, one that provides faster, less cumbersome solutions to the problems and needs of Windows users. The immense inefficiencies of Microsoft's vision of the future would seem to leave a great opportunity for a smart company to provide that alternative. But who would dare try? Lotus isn't bold enough, Borland's too broke, and Symantec and Software Publishing don't have enough clout. I'm afraid that our friends to the North, of the Corel Corp., are the last best hope for an alternative to Microsoft's vision, but only if they stop wasting their time with Java and start implementing some realistic product development plans. ---------------------------------------------------------- What planet is Paul Bonner living on !!! Someone should tell the 400,000 Java programmers that they are all 'wasting' their time. ah
