hey pw,

glad you mentioned the registry today. reminded me to go into norton's cleansweep and use its registry sweep function to clean things up. yes, i backed up first, but it's fun to go in and (with safety sweep on) eliminate unused entries. as you may know, registry sweep backs up the entries it's about to delete, so there's a bit of reassurance right there.

(i am prompted by norton when a backup is more than 30 days old and then given the option of deleting it or retaining it. usually 30 days is plenty of time to determine whether a removed entry has inadvertently caused a prob.)

in this sweep 205 invalid registry entries were cleaned. talk about junk! i can't help but wonder when folks experience problems with browsers or new programs or whatever, that some of it might be related to these invalid entries. and how in the heck would one even begin to go about cleaning this junk out without a good utility like systemworks? the benefits derived from a utility suite are far-reaching, indeed.

:)
