2/20/00 - Computer Giant Compaq Opens West Africa Office in Nigeria
LAGOS (Feb. 20) XINHUA - The global computer manufacturing giant Compaq has recently opened "Compaq West Africa" office in Lagos to further explore the promising market on the African continent, said a source here Sunday.
Compaq computers first entered the west Africa market directly in 1999 by establishing a local representative reporting to the east and west African headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and appointing selected local resellers, said the source.
Henry Ferreira, director of Compaq West Africa, said Compaq recorded about 45 percent market share in Africa in last year's performance of the industry.
"In response to the strong demand for its products, Compaq has to date authorized 15 resellers in Nigeria and one reseller in Ghana," said Ferreira.
According to Ferreira, Compaq's success could be attributed to the corporation's continuing commitment to service and support, its strong partnership with authorized resellers and its local implementation of exclusive three-year warranty. |
