Jarrett wins third Daytona 500, $1 million bonus Dale Jarrett shot past Johnny Benson on a restart with four laps left to take the lead in the Daytona 500 and won it for the third time after Jimmy Spencer blew a tire to bring out the yellow. Jeff Burton and Bill Elliott were close behind. Jarrett, who started on the Bud Pole and won the Bud Shootout, also won a $1 million bonus from Winston.
