INFORMATION technology companies and human resources consultants walked away with the maximum number of students at a two-day campus recruitment programme held at XLRI, Jamshedpur.
IT majors such as Wipro, HCL Infosystems, HCL Technologies, Infosys and Cambridge Technology Partners, made a total of 53 offers even as 18 per cent of the current batch has been placed with consultancy firms such as McKinsey & Co, Andersen Consulting, Arthur Andersen, William M. Mercer and Eicher Consultancy Services.
Reports said, the four-day placement process was reduced to two days, with 88 per cent of the batch being placed in the first day itself.
The pre-placement offers were given by industry majors such as Hindustan Lever Ltd, Procter & Gamble, Authur Andersen, Citibank and HSBC.
The number of lateral placements stood at 14 at an average annual salary of Rs. 6 lakhs, exclusive of performance bonuses of up to 60 per cent of the basic salary.
GE Capital made five lateral offers even as finance companies, consumer durables industries and marketing outfits vied with each other to attract the students.
The average salary offered this year stood at 4.83 lakhs per annum, excluding benefits such as stock option. The highest annual salary of Rs. 8.5 lakh was paid by McKinsey & Co. The number of offers per student this year was 1.62, an increase of 30 per cent over the previous year. |
