I saw Boiler Room, too. While it was not the blockbuster type of movie Wall Street was, it was good in other ways. The writer had certainly done his homework. . and it seemed more like reading a book than watching a movie. . .no chase scenes, special effects or boats blowing up. . .very similar movie to Glen Garry Glen Ross. . . which is incredible. But this movie was done on a very tight budget.

Interesting similarity to the Sopranos boiler room operation was that in both depictions, the SEC regulations enforcer was not only looking the other way, he was a key element to the operation. The writers of both shows have done extensive DD. . . and this is what they felt they wished to show. . . which is a very sad commentary on the way the SEC oversees such operations.

Boiler Room should be watched by every person considering putting money into OTC penny stocks. . . also read my article on the massive DD needed on such stocks. . .located on Joe Copia's website.

I did like the that the father had his second chance. . . that was a nice touch. The greed depicted in the film was staggering. . . as was the amount of gambling that accompanied the high strung brokers. . .the movie dealt with a very fine niche . . . boiler room activities . . . which is just one of the many ugly faces the market has.

A good lesson to be learned. I plan to buy the DVD for my library. . . yes, I have Wall Street.

And if anyone is considering the obvious play of getting on the lists, to get the latest pump. . .only to short the snot out of it for a sure bet. . .don't do it. . . .there are many articles describing the perils and tragedies that have come suddenly to those that have tried that. Somehow they always seem to find out.

And if you think the market moves like the weather. . .with some days sunny and some cloudy or stormy. . .and like the barometric pressure, humidity and jet streams drive the weather. . .so moves the markets. . . and if you think the interest rates, world markets and chance drive our markets. . .and that earnings and news are the primary movers of individual stocks. . . . .if this is what you think . . .then you still have much to learn.

Once we get the vision of how things really work, we can be more effective trader/investors.
