nihil, C. S. Lewis, once wrote that no matter what we are seeking in this life, it will never bring joy because that which we are really longing for is God. Therefore, when we accumulate the things of this world, such as possessions, experiences, pleasures, or fame, our lives still can be without joy. Though our lives may be free from any specific physical or emotional pain, the spiritual emptiness can become its own kind of pain.
You've said that you have read the words of Jesus and found him to be a very interesting man. Please consider reading more of his words with an open mind. You can have joy and complete fulfillment in this life that no amount of money could buy, unconditional love that no relationship on Earth could ever come close to, and understanding of many of the mysteries of life, of which there seems to be no answer.
