blankmind: I guess even the good guys get a little confused along the way. We are voting for the son not the father this time. And as far as the father was concerned it was a Dem. Congress that raised taxes under him and as a matter of fact used very coercive measures to force him to go back on his pledge (gov't shut down- military spending for Desert Storm costs, etc.). It is the Congress that controls the purse strings. When Bush signed the spending bill that caused his downfall it was only with false assurances from Dems that they would readdress some of the tax measures therein. George Senior trusted the wrong guys to be honorable.

As for McCain read this and tell me he is any Republican's man:
