When you say you can reasonably track 'a few' stocks at once, are you talking about the Level 2 display??

In my experiments I had a couple of L2, several charts, and a whole pile of L1. When every tick is still sent over the line for L1 and charts so it's still a lot of bandwidth.

We'll have to wait for feedback from other users to answer your questions better.
