ZURICH, Switzerland (CBS.MW) -- Financial information provided by Swiss banking giant UBS AG on the Internet will now be accessible via Wireless Application Protocol-enabled mobile phones, the company said Monday.

UBS currently provides online financial information on its own homepage and via the WAP portal of Swiss telecoms group Swisscom AG (SCM: news, msgs). WAP technology makes it possible to read Internet pages from a mobile phone.

UBS also said it's expanding global trading on the Internet with an online link to Frankfurt's Xetra DAX exchange. WAP-enabled mobile users will be able to call up quotes covering six global stock markets, offered in real-time for the Swiss Exchange SWX.

The Swiss banking giant said it plans to further expand its WAP services in the second quarter of 2000, by adding detailed information on a variety of stock markets, and is also working on a transaction-oriented service, which will include a high-security feature.
