I feel as if you keep misunderstanding me! I wasn't criticizing anyone for wanting to appear attractive and there is nothing wrong with wanting to be attractive to men. There is something wrong when it becomes an obessive quest for an impossible ideal, and an ideal that has no roots in reality. I want to be attractive, sure! I take pride in my physical appearance. BUt not to the extent that I believe it is who I am. And I think being attractive is different from needing approval so badly that you sacrifice your self.
And I AM critical of the men who leave their wives of twenty years becuase they are lusting for a young body. And in the process they break up their families, hurt their children irreparably, and somehow manage to justify it and blame everyone else.
This is a very different thing from being attracted to someone physically-- which is normal and natural and happens to us all many times over- we are after all,as you say, designed that way. But what you are saying is that your husband is mature enough and thoughtful enough to know that just because he wants something, it isn't justification to have it at any cost. Or even that it's what he really wants. You are lucky, as am I, to be married to men who take their commitments and their lives seriously. I don't even care if Dan notices beautiful women- because I know he thinks I am the most beautiful.
