DENVER, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), a leading provider of e-business solutions that deliver speed and agility, announced today that it has executed an agreement to acquire its longstanding business partner serving Australia and New Zealand, J.D. Edwards New Zealand Ltd. With this acquisition, J.D. Edwards strengthens its sales and service operations and expands its reach into the burgeoning Asia Pacific region. The integration of the two companies will enable J.D. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction will be accounted for as a purchase, and is expected to close in early March.

J.D. Edwards will add approximately 250 employees to its roster. Eight offices -- in Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Wellington -- will become J.D. Edwards offices, bringing the total number of offices worldwide to over 60.

"We have enjoyed a strong partnership with our colleagues and customers in Australia and New Zealand since 1985, when we signed our first distributorship in this territory," said Doug Massingill, CEO and president of J.D. Edwards. "We look forward to further strengthening these relationships as we formally unify this region with the rest of J.D. Edwards' international operations, bringing customers and partners the opportunity to enter the New Economy at full speed."

Richard Mathews has been named vice president and managing director for J.D. Edwards Australia / New Zealand. Glenn Tubb, formerly managing director of J.D. Edwards New Zealand Ltd, will serve as J.D. Edwards' vice president of supply chain planning and execution based in Denver. Other key executives that will take positions within J.D. The company has successfully built solid relationships across the globe -- and now, is forging an even tighter business relationship in the largest IT market in the Asia region, after Japan," said Richard Mathews, vice president and managing director, J.D.
